Telstra Coverage Maps

Telstra Corporation Limited is Australia's largest mobile carrier with around 16 million mobile users and around 40% market share. Originally government owned, Telstra was privatised in 1997. Telstra is at the forefront of mobile technology and often the first to market with new technology.

They were the first mobile service provider in Australia, and in 2011 launched Australia's first LTE network. Their NextG™ network is also well known for having the best coverage out of the four carriers covering 99% of the population.

In May 2013 Telstra purchased spectrum in the 700 MHz and 2600 MHz band for 4G use. Telstra announced the shut down of their GSM network will be at the end of 2016.

At the time of writing, the Telstra network also supports Aldi, Boost, TeleChoice, Think Mobile, and Woolworths Mobile.

Optus Coverage Maps

SingTel Optus Pty Limited is the second largest mobile carrier in Australia with around 25% market share. The Optus OPEN Network covers 98.5% of the population, offers the second fastest internet speeds and also comes in second in the coverage stakes.

Optus currently has LTE in selected areas of Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide CBD. Optus has purchased VividWireless and operate their 4G network on both 1800Mhz and 2.3 Ghz. In May 2013 Optus purchased spectrum in the 700 MHz and 2600 MHz band for 4G use.  Licences were issued in 2015. 

At the time of writing the Optus network also supports Virgin, iiNet, Dodo, Amaysim, iPrimus, M2, and Engin.

Vodafone Coverage Maps

Vodafone Australia is Australia's third largest carrier owned by Vodafone Hutchison Australia Pty Ltd with 7.2 milion users and covering 94% of the population. Vodafone has around 20% market share.

They are spending a billion dollars to rebuild a new Huawei based network that supports HSPA+, DC-HSPA (16Mbps) and LTE (40Mbps). The DC-HSPA and LTE release is currently available in selected locations.

At the time of writing the Vodafone network also covers GoTalk, Redbull Mobile, and TPG.
